Tips for Ever Glowing Skin
No longer is radiant and healthy skin unattainable. It can be achieved with a little bit of care and the right products. This article will give you some tips to help you reach your goal and take basic steps to keeping your skin clear, hydrated, and beautiful. Drink plenty of water and eat well:Healthy skin can be a direct reflection of overall health. Keeping your body completely hydrated will ensure that your skin remains moisturized and radiant. Leafy green vegetables, fresh fruits, and whole grains all work together to provide essential nutrients for supple skin. If your skin tends to be oily, try to stay clear of foods with high oil content, like French fries and greasy hamburgers. This will only add to your body's already high oil supply and can have adverse affects. Taking Care of your skin:By creating a regular beauty routine you will be able to meet the needs of your ever changing skin. The proper regimen should always consist of a cleanser, toner, eye cream, moisturizer, and exfoliant. Be careful when choosing a cleanser. The strength of detergent in cleansers can vary. Using a cleanser that is too strong can lead to dryness and eventually create more fine lines and wrinkles. For dry skin, try a cream cleanser. These usually do not foam and are applied to a dry face and wiped off with a warm wet cloth. It might feel different at first if you are used to foam, but stick with it and you will see a dramatic improvement in the hydration of your skin. For oily skin a foaming cleanser might be just right, or even a clay cleanser. Please, do not forget to tone!! Many people skip this step because they think it is not important. In reality it is one the most important steps. Toner helps to balance the skin's pH after cleansing. What does that mean? It means that many cleansers are great at removing dirt and makeup but in the process they strip the skin of its much needed natural oils and hydration. By using a toner you are restoring balance to your skin and preparing it for moisturizer. Usually this will allow you to use less moisturizer and provide a deeper product penetration. In addition toner has an antiseptic effect and can reduce the risk of infection and blemishes. If you are experiencing excess dryness or even breakout, try implementing a toner into your regime. If you have oily or acneic skin an astringent might be more appropriate for you. One of the greatest tips for achieving youthful glowing skin is regular exfoliation. There are many different types of exfoliation and all will help to stimulate cellular turnover. There are physical exfoliants that contain granules, and chemical exfoliants which contain acids and enzymes. Be careful when choosing a granular exfoliant, or scrub. Some scrubs contain plastic pieces that are not perfectly round and can tear into delicate skin, causing scarring and irritation. Depending how strong the exfoliant is that you choose will determine how often you use it. Typically an exfoliant should be done about two to three times a week. There are some, such as Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant, that are safe to use on a daily basis. If you desire a stronger granular exfoliant, Dr. Brandt's Microdermabrasion, is a wonderful choice. For an exfoliation similar to a chemical peel, try Murad's Intensive Resurfacing Peel. It contains glycolic and salicylic acid to stimulate cell proliferation. By removing dead skin cells through exfoliation you will reveal a softer, smoother texture as plump healthy skin cells rise to the surface. MoisturizeEveryone needs a moisturizer. Yes, even oily skin. It seems clear why someone with dry skin would need a moisturizer, but what about oily skin? Technology has come a long way and now there are light weight moisturizers that even oily/acneic skin can benefit from. Healthy skin needs a proper balance of oil and water. Often times, oily skin is dehydrated. Meaning it is lacking water. When the skin is lacking water, the body recognizes it needs more moisture and will produce more oil. Moisturizers can provide the skin with this much needed water and will actually help to balance oil production. In addition, it will act as a protective barrier between your pores and bacteria, decreasing breakouts. Dermalogica's Oil control Lotion is a great product for this type of skin. If you are dry and dehydrated, try Yonka Crème 28. It is loaded with moisture and natural oils. Protect your skinSun damage is one of the main causes of premature aging. This includes tanning beds. The rate of skin cancer has sky rocketed and it is no longer partial to the elder. Many young teens are being effected with this horrible disease due to a lack of education. The UV rays are stronger than ever and it is essential that we take up forces against the harmful effects of the sun. Sunscreen is a great way to protect your skin and your bodies from the sun. Many skin care companies now make daily moisturizers with SPF. Use at least an SPF 15. Anything under a 15 doesn't do much. However, you don't need to be crazy and buy an SPF 70 either. The higher the SPF the more chemicals it contains. For daily use SPF 15 is sufficient. When you are in the sun, step it up to SPF 30 or even 50. The most important thing is that you reapply. One application will not last you all day. Secondly, apply it every day, even if you think you're never outside. UV rays penetrate through glass and come in through windows when you're driving in your car or at the office working. Furthermore, please stay away from tanning beds. One session in a tanning bed is equivalent to five full days at the beach. It is hard on your body and can actually damage your DNA. If you must get that bronzy glow, try using self tanners like Tan Towels, or ModelCo. They give a warm sun kissed look without the harmful effects. Reminder:Following these steps will help you achieve healthy, beautiful skin. But remember, everyone's skin is different. What works for one person might not work for another. So don't give up. It may feel like you have tried everything on the market but I guarantee you, you haven't. Try again and eventually you will find the perfect regime for you. Your skin will thank you! Steps to reduce the sign of aging
As we age it is inevitable that we will develop fine lines and wrinkles. However, good daily skin care maintenance can delay the process. There are many procedures that you can utilize to help you reduce the effects of aging, such as microderamabrasion, chemical peels, and laser resurfacing. Before deciding on an option, it is always best to be seen by an esthetician or dermatologist. They will be able to provide you with the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure so that you may make an informed decision. One of the best ways to treat and prevent premature aging of the skin is through supplements. Many nutritional supplements contain antioxidants as well as other vitamins and minerals to help treat your skin from the inside out. This can help build collagen and elastin creating firming looking skin. Omega's are rich in essential fatty acids and can supply the skin with much needed hydration, giving it a soft, supple feel. Dr. Perricone has a wonderful supply of nutritional supplements, including DMAE to help tighten and firm the skin. Dr. Murad has a great supply of vitamins with benefits ranging from increased sun protection to cellulite treatments. Either of these options would be an excellent place to start. Remember to always consult a physician first. Many of the external treatments deal with increasing the rate of cellular turnover. Our skin cells are "born" at the basal layer through a process known as mitosis. There are always new skin cells being born, forcing older skin cells to travel to the surface, creating many layers of cells. As the cell travels to the surface, it loses essential nutrients and hydration as it goes. Eventually the skin cell becomes dry and flat and will slough off the surface of the skin. This entire process takes healthy skin about 28 days and is called cellular turnover. As we age this process slows down decreasing the fullness of the skin. At the same time our elastin and collagen production slow down resulting in sagging skin. This is why it is so important that we take care of our skin with treatments to help stimulate cellular turnover. Some of the treatments you can do to increase your skin's cellular turnover are: A rejuvenating facial- This includes deep cleansing techniques, massage for relaxation, and most importantly exfoliation for stimulation. In addition there are many serums and masques that can also be applied to help prevent or reduce the signs of aging. A chemical peel- Although these peels are extremely effective, they vary in strengths and can cause extreme dryness and irritation. Therefore it is important that you consult a dermatologist before hand and follow any instructions given for after care. Always wear a sunscreen after a chemical peel. The most common type is a glycolic peel. There can be some down time, so make sure you are prepared. Micordermabrasion- This is a fabulous solution to many skin care concerns. It can help reduce scarring, increase cellular turnover, and result in soft, glowing skin. This treatment can use circulating crystals or a diamond tip to basically scrape off excess dead skin cells. There is minimal to no down time. Laser Resurfacing- This should be a last resort. Although the effects can be phenomenal, it is the most invasive of all the procedures mentioned and can come with the most down time. You must consult a doctor before having laser resurfacing done. Make sure only a Doctor or RN performs the procedure. There are different types, so do your homework and chose the one that is right for you.
These are all viable options for decreasing the signs of aging. The best method is prevention. Take of your skin daily, stay out of the sun as much as possible, and always wear sunscreen. Drink plenty of water, eat well, and your skin will be happy you did. Labels: Dermalogica, Moroccan oil, T3 hair dryer, Yonka
