Globally, people are searching under their sinks for that long-lost hand sanitizer (or two or three) that have been collecting dust until this moment. Because now we need them and they are all gone. And even if you have some on hand now, it’s going to go fast, especially for families. Here are four things you can do right now to keep your hands and body clean without worrying about the global shortage due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Two Words: Clarifying Shampoo
Did you know that clarifying shampoos are made to lift dirt, oils and other debris from the skin more so than other shampoos? That is what they were designed to do; get you extra clean! In a pinch, you can use it on the entire body to get that deep clean you need.
Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer
It is easy to make as long as you have these 3 main ingredients - Alcohol, aloe vera and an essential oil with antibacterial properties - like tea tree oil. You can use lemon or lime juice if that’s what you can find. Get creative. Do you have an aloe plant in your home? Do you have rubbing alcohol? You have to get your proportions right, with 60% of your solution being alcohol. Look in your cabinets! Call your mom! Find your ingredients and let us know how you did in the comment section!
Build Up Some Scrubby Suds During Handwashing
The simple action of scrubbing hands and creating suds that can rinse away from the skin is the number one way to keep from getting any viral flu, cold or even the coronavirus. The FDA has even stated that you may not need the “antimicrobial” soap so much as just needing ANY soap, as long as that 20+ seconds sudsy action is in play. Try Ahava's Moisturizing Salt Soap or L'Occitane's Shea Butter Extra Gentle Soap, which of course you can find at your favorite beauty boutique. ;)
Alcohol And Sanitizing Sprays
If you are getting desperate, there are alternatives to the gel sanitizers still available out there. Cinema Secrets makes both a Makeup Sanitizing Spray and their infamous Brush Cleanser, both of which can be used in place of hand sanitizer. Ultraluxe also came out with a Hand and Body Sanitizing Spray this year. Just be sure to use a moisturizer afterward, because the alcohol content could dry out your hands.
